During health coaching I'll hold space for you to explore how your vision for your own health and wellbeing aligns with your values. I'll help you identify your goals, and focus on what's most important to you. And I'll provide the support to enable you to make the shifts in your mindset, habits and behaviours that enable you to rebuild your energy levels, feel healthier and more vibrant, and re-find the joy in your mission and your life.

I have always been sceptical about the effectiveness of coaching. I decided to give it a go because my daughter convinced me that I should not be dismissive about it without having ever tried it.

Hand on heart, having the coaching sessions with Eleanor turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Eleanor was patient, non-judgemental, supportive and knowledgeable. I was able to speak to her of things that I have never voiced before. She gently guided me to a space where I was able to identify my needs and focus on them. She helped me set some goals, got me thinking about how I could best achieve them, then tracked my progress creating a sense of self-imposed accountability.

The fact that I was able to successfully achieve several short-term goals AND get started on a couple of long-term goals within a period of a few weeks, is testimony to Eleanor’s effective coaching skills.

About health coaching

A basic tenet of health coaching is that you are the expert in your own life. Rather than judging you or telling you what to do, I will be your thinking, planning and accountability partner. I'll support you to:

  • Identify the health and wellbeing goals and changes you want to make that are most important to you

  • Plan how you'll achieve those goals and changes, and how you'll overcome any barriers

  • Access the internal resources you have within you and the external resources available to support you

  • Build and maintain your commitment, motivation, and accountability as you progress

  • Celebrate and recognise yourself with every step you make towards realising your vision for your health and wellbeing.

Where health coaching is different from other forms of coaching, is that health coaches are trained in the fundamentals of the habits and behaviours that support health. So I may sometimes make suggestions, but only with your permission.

As a health coach, I cannot make diagnoses, offer or recommend medical treatment.

Therefore, you may need to consult other appropriately qualified health professionals for some health concerns. For example, I am not a medical doctor, psychologist, psychotherapist or dietician. On the UK and International Health Coaches Association (UKIHCA) website, you can find more information about what is within a health coach’s scope of practice.

I reached out to Eleanor for support with my energy levels, and also to explore how cooking can be more enjoyable. Throughout the programme, Eleanor helped me stay on track and worked with me to find practical and achievable ways to develop new or better habits to achieve my goals. The process did lead to better energy levels, but more importantly, I now have more insights on what affects them. This means I can adjust and problem-solve better on my own.

My approach to health coaching

Empathy, compassion and the capacity to really listen to you are absolutely key to my approach to health coaching. What is most important for your health may be completely different from what is most important to another person. And even if you have the same goal, what works for you may not be the same as what works for someone else. Therefore our work together will not be generic - it will be about you, and the specificity of what you need.

I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Health and Wellness Coaching. In addition to health coaching, I am a trained mindfulness and compassion teacher. If it feels right for you, we can incorporate some mindfulness and compassion techniques to help you become more aware of what influences your habits and behaviours, manage stress, and be kinder to yourself.

I also have a Masters in Global Health and Social Justice and a PhD in Global Health. What I have learned from these is how context informs our health and our choices - our environment, economics, culture, relationships, social, political and community influences. I'm not about blaming you for the things you find difficult. I'm about understanding your health in the context of your life, identifying and acknowledging the constraints you might be facing, and supporting you to reclaim your autonomy and agency to live as healthfully as you can.

Eleanor has exactly the attributes I needed from a Health Coach. Warmth and humour, supportive challenging, and ability to help me reframe thinking and surface insights. It must be a tricky role as people explore some deeply personal things. Keeping them safe, encouraged, and moving through the process is a real skill and Eleanor is masterful at it.

Health Coaching has given me far more than I expected. It has liberated me in ways I didn’t know I needed, and had impact on relationships, work, and most of all my self esteem.

My health coaching programmes

After an initial conversation, I’ll put together a proposal for a health coaching programme that’s aligned to your specific situation, needs and health goals.

Usually, an initial health coaching programme will be between 4 and 12 sessions, depending on what’s most appropriate for you. This is because breaking and building habits takes time.

I deliver the sessions online, via Zoom. The first and last sessions are 75-minutes and the other sessions are 50-minutes. The frequency of the sessions will be agreed between us. In addition to the coaching sessions, you’ll receive follow-up emails with the main takeaways from each session, exercise templates and resources.

For a standard programme, the cost ranges from £320 (4 sessions) to £960 (12 sessions).

Progression or maintenance programmes are also available for clients who have completed an initial programme with me, and want additional support with behaviour change or new health and wellness goals. The number, length and frequency of sessions are bespoke to individual needs.
